Megger BITE2PP BITE 2P Battery Impedance Test Equipment

The Megger BITE2PP Battery Impedance Tester can test the condition of nickel cadmium and lead acid battery cells to a maximum of 7000 Ah.

The BITE2 features Pass / Warning / Fail calculations that are based on user entered baseline values, advanced printing functionality and the accessories fit nicely into a durable canvas case.

The BITE2P operates by applying test signals across a battery string when online, then it calculates the impedance using simultaneous current  measurements & the resulting voltage drops of each cell / jar. It also measures DC voltage & (strap) interconnection resistances to help you determine overall conditions of the whole battery string electrical path across terminal plate - terminal plate.
 
The Megger BITE2P also measures AC ripple currents which, if remain too high over extended periods of time, may cause damage by overheating (Battery temperature increases of 18 deg. F / 10 deg. C will 1/2 the life for lead acid batteries). Manufacturers usually recommend a 5Amp limit for AC ripple current to every 100Ah of capacity. The 1st measurement the BITE2P makes is AC ripple current and should include trending.
 
The BITE2P receiver stores readings in internal memory. The measurements, together with maintenance data like pilot cell temperatures, ambient temperatures & AC ripple current, can assist in evaluating the overall conditions for a battery system. Megger advises that battery impedance measurements using your BITE2P be made as part of your battery maintenance operations with test readings taken & recorded semi-annually with flooded batteries & quarterly with VRLA.
 
Compared to load cycle tests which involve substantial downtimes & repeated discharging, using the BITE 2 requires no discharges or stress to batteries. With testing durations of < 15 sec. for cells and intercell connectors, 1 person may precisely, quickly, and easily measure the impedance of internal cells, DC terminal voltages & intercell connections resistance without the battery systems taken off-line and also evaluate the charger's condition. 
 
BITE2P Receiver
The battery operated receiver utilizes a clamp on current sensor, data storage capabilities and potential leads. It can store over 2000 data sets (interconnecting strap resistances, cell voltage, date & time stamps, cell impedance) for 300 tests maximum. It can also print active tests for easy retest and review. Selective printing for any tests & deletion of the oldest tests are features included for maintaining critical test results in memory.
