IECC 2009 IL Illinois International Energy Code Compliance Training Certification

Legislation was passed in the State of Illinois in 2009 which amended the Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Act to the (EEBA)Energy Efficient Buildings Act. This and requires residential buildings to follow the standards of energy efficient that previously only applied to commercial buildings.

The phrase "Residential building" is interpreted as (1) a detached single family or a two family dwelling or (2) any building of 3 stories or less above grade which has multiple liveable units, where occupants will permanently reside. These may include an apartment house, a row house, a townhouse, a rectory, a monastery, a convent, a fraternity or sorority house, rooming house, and a a dormitory; provided that if and when it is applied to buildings that are located within the municipal boundaries with a population greater than 1,000,000 or more, the "residential building" term means a building which contains 1 or more living units, not to exceed four stories above grade, where tennants are essentially permanent.
